Drewell to co-chair WSU presidential transition effort

Former WSU North Puget Sound at Everett interim chancellor Bob Drewel will co-chair the WSU presidential transition efforts with Lura Powell, vice chair of the Board of Regents. The co-chairs will work closely with WSU interim president Dan Bernardo to address the details of the transition. Bernardo will then prepare to transition back to his role as provost.

Skydivers to hold safety training refresher course

Local skydivers will gather for a day of refresher safety training at the annual nationwide Safety Day on March 12 at Skydive Snohomish, 9906 Airport Way, Snohomish. The day was established by the U.S. Parachute Association in 1997 to make the sport safer and to prepare jumpers for the year ahead. There will be skydiving from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Spectators are welcome.

EdCC gala raises for students, employees

The Edmonds Community College Foundation’s 30th annual fundraising auction and gala dinner on Saturday featured celebrity guest chef Maria Hines. Also featured were Autumn Martin, EdCC’s 2008 distinguished alumna and owner of Seattle’s Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Factory and Astrid Baretti, a student scholarship recipient. The auction and gala aims to raise $250,000 to support students and employees at EdCC.
