Lions Club to honor Ed Petersen
The Lions International Medal of Merit Award will be presented to Ed Petersen on Feb. 18 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Xfinity Arena. Petersen was selected because of his lifetime of dedication to helping others which includes work in the Peace Corps, Neighborhood Corps, Everett Schools, state corrections, the mental health field and the founding of Housing Hope.

Clothes for Kids to hold Transforming Lives Breakfast
Clothes for Kids announced its sixth Annual Clothes For Kids Transforming Lives Breakfast. The event is from 7 to 9 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. The breakfast is the largest annual fundraiser for Clothes For Kids. There is no charge to attend, but a donation will be requested during the event. Go to www.clothesforkids.org to register.
SBA aims to help local businesses on brink of growth
The U.S. Small Business Administration Seattle District Office is offering the Emerging Leaders training initiative for local businesses on the brink of growth. It is focused on women-, minority-, immigrant-, and LGBT-owned small businesses. Apply online at www.sba.gov/EmergingLeaders before March 1. There is an informational webinar Feb. 19 to help answer any questions applicants may have about the program.
Public meeting on EvCC’s nursing program planned
The public is invited to comment about Everett Community College’s nursing program at a meeting 4 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 24 at EvCC’s Liberty Hall, room 107. The meeting is part of EvCC’s nursing program continuing accreditation site review. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Written comments may also be submitted by Feb. 16 at mstoll@acenursing.org.
