Everett bowler Goldfinch places second at state

UNIVERSITY PLACE — Candice Goldfinch of Everett placed second Friday in the individual competition at the Class 3A/2A state girls bowling championships at Narrows Plaza Bowl.

Goldfinch, a senior, rolled games of 192, 212, 229, 210, 168 and 169 for a total of 1,180. That left her nine pins behind the state champion, Ashlyn Jamrog of Olympic. Jamrog rolled games of 210, 211, 192, 179, 195 and 202.

It marked the fourth straight year Goldfinch has placed in the top 10 at state. Her teammate Amanda Burton placed ninth with a score of 1,101. Burton had a high game of 213.

While the individual champion was crowned Friday, the team competition continues Saturday. Everett (4,988) starts the day in second place behind Hanford (5,229). Prairie (4,917), Wilson (4,901) and Hudson’s Bay (4,774) round out the top five.
