Kristina McMorris

7 p.m. Dec. 3, Third Place Books

The Portland author will read from her new book “The Edge of Lost” at the book store, 17171 Bothell Way NE. Lake Forest Park. McMorris moves her story from Ireland to New York to San Francisco and back again, offering insights in the immigrant experience in America during the era of prohibition, vaudeville and imprisonment on Alcatraz island. This is her fourth novel.

Dave Ellingson

11 a.m. Dec. 5, J. Matheson Gifts

Ellingson plans to talk about and sign his book, “Paddle Pilgrim,” at the shop, 2615 Colby Ave., Everett. Ellingson, who teaches at Trinity Lutheran College in Everett and lives in Edmonds, paddled the entire Mississippi River in his kayak during the summer of 2012. He is a Lutheran pastor, a master gardener, former distance runner and triathlete and father of five grown children.

6 p.m. Dec. 5, Main Street Books

The book store, at 110 E. Main St., Monroe, hosts the local author, who will sign and read from her new novel “Burn Valley Vengeance,” a romantic mystery set in Colorado. An unusual spree of crimes is plaguing the country roads and canyons of Burn Valley. Deputy Preston Rayburn suspects the crimes are related but he doesn’t know how. All that takes a backseat the night he happens on a car accident. Inside one of the vehicles, gravely injured, is Carrie Reynolds, the secret love of his life. As Carrie struggles to recover from her injuries Rayburn and a state trooper follow the clues to the mysterious person who walked away from the car wreck and what connection he has to the strange things happening in the area.

3 p.m. Dec. 5, Snow Goose Books

The new book “I Remember Fishing with Dad” is a collaboration by the Camano Island artist and his son Jason celebrating the bond between father and son around a day on the water. The book’s larger message, however, is about creating lasting memories with children and grandchildren by spending time together. The store is at 8716 271st St. NW, Stanwood.

Kathleen Thompson

6:30 p.m. Dec. 11, Third Place Books

Thompson will talk about her book “Snapshots in Time: Photographic Memories of Puget Sound” at the store, 17171 Bothell Way NE. Lake Forest Park. This is the story through pictures of one family’s early business venture in Seattle. Price Photo Service provided employment as well as a love of photography to several generations.
