Bicyclist who was struck and killed by truck identified

EVERETT – Traffic detectives with the Everett Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that killed a bicyclist Thursday evening.

The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 12600 block of 19th Avenue SE.

Bicyclist Garth W. White, 41, died at the scene from blunt force injuries to the head, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner reported.

A witness who saw the crash called 911 and followed the pickup truck that struck White, according to a police report.

The pickup truck’s driver, 58, allegedly smelled of alcohol when stopped by police. He denied drinking. No charges have been filed.

The man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and later booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of both vehicular homicide and involvement in a hit-and-run death.

His pickup truck was impounded for investigation.
