John Rogalski of Everett is keeping an eye on talk of a new interchange at Highway 526 (Boeing Freeway) and Hardeson Road, near where he lives.
“As an old guy on a retirement income, I am not very eager to pack up my tent and move, after living here since 1986,” he wrote. “My questions are: Is the location of said interchange such that I will be forced to move? When? What is the timing of the construction schedule?”
Now that this project has some funding attached to it in the state budget, I was finally able to get something out of the Washington State Department of Transportation.
But details at this point are still pretty slim.
“This project is included in the Connecting Washington program that was approved by the state Legislature this summer. So far, the interchange is only a basic idea,” said Tom Pearce, a WSDOT spokesperson. “As of now there are no plans for the exact location for the interchange. Funding for this project begins in the 2017-2019 biennium, with construction funding included in the 2021-23 biennium. That means the process will begin in 2017, starting with figuring out what to build and designing it.”
Looks like Rogalski and others will have to keep an eye on this one for awhile longer.
