Hundreds attend Career Fair at Tulalip Resort Casino

More than 800 job seekers attended the Snohomish County Career Fair organized by The Daily Herald and hosted by the Tulalip Resort Casino. Some of the 55 hiring companies on hand hired people at the event and many conducted interviews and arranged for second interviews, said Pilar Linares, the newspaper’s advertising director. The Herald also continues to be a sponsor of the biannual Snohomish County Job Fair, which is planned next from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Edward D. Fred Meyer-QFC looking to hire veterans

This month, Fred Meyer and QFC will fill more than 1,500 positions in their stores with veterans and veteran family members. Kroger hired more than 6,000 veterans in 2014, and has hired more than 29,000 veterans since 2009. Through the Honoring Our Heroes program, Kroger stores have also raised more than $11.9 million since 2010 to help support USO programs.

Umpqua Bank foundation gives $4,000 to House Hope

Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation awarded a $4,000 grant to Housing Hope’s College of Hope Program in Everett. The program’s goal is to provide education and training so participants can achieve permanent housing and economic stability. This countywide initiative serves more than 550 individuals in five strategic geographic locations: Everett, Arlington, Monroe, Stanwood and Lynnwood.

Statewide business group to meet Cle Elum

Business leaders will gather Tuesday through Thursday at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum for the Association of Washington Business’ annual Policy Summit. Open house planned for mental health services business in Mountlake Terrace

Sunrise Community Mental Health Services will have a grand opening and open house Tuesday to celebrate their third mental health services facility in Snohomish County. The new business is located at 6505 218th St. SW near Premera Blue Cross and the Interim City Hall. The open house takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
