17-year-old identified in Lake Stevens pedestrian fatality

LAKE STEVENS — A high-school student who was struck by a car and died Tuesday has been identified as William L. Arroyo-Ramirez, 17, of Lake Stevens.

His name was released Wednesday by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The crash happened just after 6 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 9 near Hillcrest Elementary School and Fourth Street SE.

Arroyo-Ramirez attended Crossroads High School in Granite Falls. The school had a moment of silence on Wednesday in his honor.

“He was a sweet kid who always had a smile on his face,” Principal Bridgette Perrigoue said.

The Granite Falls School District is helping organize a spaghetti-feed fundraiser for the boy’s family from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles club, 402 N. Granite Ave., Granite Falls.

The Lake Stevens Haggens store, where he worked, is donating the food for the fundraiser.

An online fundraiser and details on a memorial service may be announced at a later date.

Lake Stevens police continue to investigate. The driver was a Monroe-area man in his early 40s, in a silver Chevrolet Cobalt. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with detectives.
