Everett robbery leads to I-5 chase that ends in Seattle

EVERETT — One man is in jail and another remains at large after an Everett-area home-invasion robbery early Wednesday morning followed by a pursuit that ended in north Seattle.

A call to 911 was made around 2:30 a.m.

The caller reported that two men with handguns and bandanas covering their faces were robbing a home in the 8700 block of Gothic Way, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle. A deputy with a police dog in his patrol car spotted the vehicle and gave chase southbound on I-5.

Mountlake Terrace police deployed a “spike strip”, puncturing one of the suspect vehicle’s tires and causing it to slow down.

The pursuit ended when the car exited I-5 at 145th NE Street, which is the border between Shoreline and Seattle, and crashed into the Jackson Park Golf Course on the Seattle side.

The two suspects ran. The deputy and police dog tracked and captured one of them. The suspect, 31, was booked in the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of burglary and robbery.

The search for the second suspect was suspended around 5:30 a.m.

Everett police confirmed with the burglary victims that the suspects stole an AR-15 rifle.
