Inmate fight leads to prison lockdown; minor injuries

MONROE — A fight among inmates has led to a lockdown at the Washington State Reformatory.

Multiple inmates began fighting in the outdoor yard around 6 p.m. Monday.

No staff members were injured, and minor injuries were reported among the inmates, the state Department of Corrections reported.

The motive for the fracas wasn’t immediately known.

The reformatory will remain on lockdown while staff investigate.

Other units at the Monroe Correctional Complex were operating normally.

The reformatory houses 700 medium- and minimum-custody offenders.
