Search continues for presumed N. Fork Skykomish drowning victim

INDEX — The search continues for the body of a man who went missing July 19 in the North Fork Skykomish River.

The man, described as being in his early 20s and from the Lake Stevens area, is presumed to have drowned.

While the active search has been called off, the Snohomish County sheriff’s search-and-rescue team still is looking in the area every day, spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The man was reported missing in the river near the 62000 block of Index-Galena Road, near the Troublesome Creek Campground. He had been with a group of people swimming.

At least five people have drowned in rivers in the county since May 1.
