More parking coming to Ash Way, Swamp Creek P&Rs

Major renovations are underway at the cramped Ash Way Park and Ride and Swamp Creek Park and Ride lots that will result in more parking.

Most of the work on the Community Transit projects is taking place over the weekends to minimize disruption, though some parking has been temporarily lost to construction equipment.

When work is complete, by this fall, parking at the well-used locations will increase by 15 new spots at Ash Way, while Swamp Creek will squeeze in up to 25 more spots.

New LED lighting is going in at both locations. And Ash Way also is getting security cameras and an added electronic sign notifying riders of bus arrivals.

Last year, the 15-year-old Ash Way Park and Ride had minor resealing and repainting to the asphalt.

At Swamp Creek, improvements mark the first major upgrade in 30 years.

The projects add up to about $2 million, with grants covering 80 percent of those costs.
