EdCC hires new VP of Instruction

Edmonds Community College has hired Charlie Crawford as the new executive vice president of Instruction. Crawford will be working with instructors, students and staff to serve the educational needs of the community. Prior to his appointment at EdCC, he served 11 years in various dean roles at Tacoma Community College.

Health summit planned this week in Everett

At the Edge of Amazing, a Community Health Summit, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Xfinity Arena in Everett. Speakers include Blue Zones co-creator Tony Buettner among others. Gov. Jay Inslee and more than 50 organizations, representing at least 50,000 people in Snohomish County, will sign a public pledge to improve nutrition and activity levels countywide. Nominations sought to recognize Lynnwood people, businesses

The City of Lynnwood is seeking nominations for the Honoring Excellence awards. The awards recognize both excellence and contributions to the community. Any Lynnwood City employee, Lynnwood resident or Lynnwood business who demonstrates excellence is eligible. Nominations forms, due by Sept 13., are available online at www.ci.lynnwood.wa.us/ or at City Hall. Winning candidates will be notified in mid-October.

Whidbey Coffee to be served in Red Lion Hotels

Red Lion Hotels Corp. has aligned with Seattle-based Vibe Coffee Group to bring Pacific Northwest coffee to its hotel lobbies. Victrola Coffee will be served in the lobbies of the Hotel RL brand beginning Aug. 1. Whidbey Coffee will be served in the lobbies of Red Lion Hotels and Red Lion Inn &Suites within the next 60 days.

Comcast adds countries on home-phone plan

Comcast has announced it added five new countries to its most popular home phone plan, Xfinity Voice Unlimited, a change that comes at no additional cost. These changes allow customers to place unlimited calls to mobile and landline phones in Mexico, India, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea, in addition to the six regions outside the United States already included.
