New Rotary Club of Everett president

Deborah Wright was sworn in last week as president of the Rotary Club of Everett. She will serve through June 2016. A Rotary member since 2002, Wright is a six-time Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and is employed by the City of Everett. She takes over the Rotary presidency from Dr. Mark Valentine of Everett.

BNSF Railway Foundation makes donation for children’s beds

St. Vincent de Paul, North Sound Council, has announced the donation of $4,000 from the BNSF Railway Foundation. These funds will purchase beds for children who are otherwise sleeping on the floor in their homes. St. Vincent de Paul is unique in that 100 percent of the funds received for programs go directly into that program.

EdCC adds intern from Edmonds School District program

Edmonds Community College partnered with the VOICE (Vocational Opportunities In Community Engagement) program of the Edmonds School District to give one of their students, Brianna Horne, an internship and a chance to see what it would be like to work at the college. VOICE is the Edmonds School District’s transition program for 18 to 21 year-old students with disabilities.

Discussion about Swedish Edmonds expansion planned

Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling and staff will host a community discussion with a question-and-answer session and an update from Swedish Edmonds on its campus expansion project at the first Town Hall meeting of this year. The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Swedish Edmonds Fourth Floor Auditorium at 21601 76th Ave. W, Edmonds.

Navy to to talk to small business owners about contracts

The Office of Small Business at Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest has announced an Industry and Market Research Day set for Aug. 10. Registration is now open. This is an opportunity for small business owners, including women, minority and disadvantaged owners, to present their experience and capabilities to representatives from NAVFAC Northwest Architects/Engineers, Public Works, Environmental and NAVFAC Northwest Contracting Officers.
