SNOHOMISH — A brush fire broke out near a fireworks stand off Highway 9 south of Snohomish on Saturday at about 4 p.m.
The initial caller reported a “stump fire” in the 16600 block of Highway 9, said Bill Wirtz, battalion chief for Snohomish County Fire District 7.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the flames had spread to cover an area about 30 feet square, Wirtz said.
Firefighters from Clearview and Snohomish were able to contain the fire in about 20 minutes.
The fire was set back from the road and a tender had to be brought in to supply water to the fire crews, Wirtz said.
No structures were damaged. The fire was likely caused by fireworks, Wirtz said.
