MARYSVILLE — A police pursuit on I-5 turned into a manhunt in Marysville on Thursday afternoon.
Police had spotted a southbound driver who was “speeding excessively” on I-5 north of Fourth Street, Washington State Patrol trooper Heather Axtman said.
The trooper who saw the man attempted to pull him over, and the man took off, Axtman said. A short pursuit ensued, about 2:15 p.m. The man got off I-5 at Fourth Street and pulled into a gas station parking lot.
He jumped from the vehicle, which then rolled into some bushes, she said.
The man ran. His identity was unknown. The car did not appear to be stolen.
The search was ongoing as of 3:15 p.m. No other details had been confirmed.
