New chief medical officer starts job in Monroe

MONROE — EvergreenHealth Monroe announced that it has named Dr. Jack Handley as the organization’s new chief medical officer. He started the job on Monday.

Handley assumes the role after serving as an EvergreenHealth medical staff officer for the past five years, an EvergreenHealth emergency department physician for the 16 years and chairperson of the Medical Staff Quality Peer Review and Quality Steering committees.

In Monroe, Handley will be involved in all aspects of the delivery of medical care at the 72-bed Monroe, including an initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and to integrate clinical care with the EvergreenHealth’s Kirkland campus.

On March 1, the Monroe hospital, formerly Valley General Hospital, entered into a 50-year agreement with the Kirkland-based EvergreenHealth system.
