LONDON — Nomad Holdings Ltd. has agreed to buy Iglo Foods Holding Ltd., the frozen food company that introduced fish sticks to Britain in the 1950s, for 2.6 billion euros ($2.8 billion).

Based in Britain, Iglo Group sells products, including fish fingers, in 12 European countries under brands such as Birds Eye and Findus. It has 2,800 employees across Europe with four manufacturing plants and five primary distribution centers. The Birds Eye brand in the United States was not part of the transaction.

Nomad was formed last year by investors Noam Gottesman and Martin E. Franklin to identify and purchase an unspecified company. After the acquisition is complete, it will be renamed Nomad Foods Ltd.

Trading in Nomad shares, which are listed on the London Stock Exchange, was suspended at the company’s request. Nomad plans to shift its primary listing to the New York Stock Exchange.
