Forensic anthropologist in Shoreline honored

William D. Haglund was awarded the Anthropology Sections T. Dale Stewart Award last month at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences 67th annual scientific meeting. The Shoreline resident is the former director of International Missions for Physicians for Human Rights. He is a three-time past president of the Washington State Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Association.The award was presented in Orlando, Florida.He was the former chief medical investigator for the King County Medical Examiner’s Office during the investigation of the Green River killings.

Frontier updates its local crisis communication, emergency preparedness plans

Frontier Communications is marking the somber one-year mark of the Oso mudslide by updating the company’s local crisis communication and emergency preparedness plans. Within 48 hours of last year’s landslide, Frontier’s team installed 14,000 feet of temporary fiber to help restore services. Technicians had to hand-pull the fiber cable through the area.

California company buys Everett storage units

California-based SmartStop Self Storage recently acquired 27 facilities including a 490-unit facility at 10919 Evergreen Way, Everett. The portfolio transaction totaled approximately 18,000 units and 1.9 million net rentable square feet with an aggregate purchase price of approximately $145 million.

Companies need to register vehicles online

Beginning Oct. 23, businesses that need U.S. Department of Transportation numbers for company vehicles will be required to obtain and renew the numbers online. The Unified Registration System is a new electronic registration system that will streamline and simplify the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s registration process.
