EVERETT — Prosecutors have charged three 16-year-old boys with robbery.
The boys are accused of attacking a 15-year-old boy outside a south Everett Safeway earlier this year. They reportedly beat him with small bats. He was hit repeatedly in the head and was knocked to the ground.
He dropped his backpack as he fell. Passersby helped the boy get back up. He realized his cellphone was gone from his backpack once the attackers left.
The teen recognized the boys from Cascade High School. He didn’t know their names.
All three are associated with a street gang, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Craig Matheson wrote.
Another person associated with the gang contacted the 15-year-old through Facebook and left a threatening message, Matheson wrote in court papers.
Everett police were able to identify the three suspects.
The teens are charged as adults due to their age and the nature of the offense, Matheson said.
One has juvenile felony convictions for robbery and assault. Another one has a juvenile felony assault conviction. The third boy doesn’t have any criminal history.
Bail was set at $25,000 for the boys with previous convictions. The other boy was held on $10,000 bail.
