Airbus, Boeing lean on Zodiac Aerospace to improve seat deliveries

EVERETT — Airplane makers Airbus and Boeing are reportedly leaning on seat supplier Zodiac Aerospace to resolve persistent delivery delays, according to Reuters.

The French supplier has struggled for months to get its seat production back on schedule. The problems disrupted airliner production schedules late last year, including for Boeing’s 787.

As a result, Boeing had to push back the first delivery of a 787 Dreamliner to American Airlines.

The airplane maker said Zodiac had not adequately prepared to handle production rate increases, Reuters reports.

“If you pick any business, whether it is aerospace or automotive, where something goes wrong, it is about integration,” said Patrick Shanahan, senior vice president for airplane programs, according to the wire service.

Zodiac Aerospace owns several suppliers in Washington, including Greenpoint Technologies in 2014.
