EvCC receives top 50 ranking for medical assisting program
Top Medical Assistant Schools ranked Everett Community College’s medical assisting program as the 31st best in the United States in its 2014 list of the country’s top 50 programs. EvCC and Renton Technical College are the two Washington state schools on the list. TopMedicalAssistantSchools.com evaluated programs considering graduation rates, retention rates, tuition and other factors to determine rankings.
Everett to give to projects that help tourism
The City of Everett is accepting Hotel Motel Tax Fund applications from public and nonprofit agencies through 5 p.m. Feb. 23, for projects that assist in tourism development and promotion. Attorney general seeking Super Bowl ticket complaints
Attorney general Bob Ferguson reminds Seahawks fans to contact the Attorney General’s Office and file a complaint if they were victims of Super Bowl ticket scams or broker’s empty promises. The office will review all complaints to determine whether individual brokers’ actions violated Washington State’s Consumer Protection Act. IT company launches in south Snohomish County
CMIT Solutions is launching a new office in Bothell that will serve Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Bothell, Mill Creek, Snohomish and Woodinville. Nancy and August Hill will operate the location to provide flat rate, around-the-clock, maintenance and monitoring solutions to business owners. August Hill previously worked for Microsoft.
Coastal reports increase in loans, deposits
Coastal Financial Corp., the holding company for Coastal Community Bank, reported a 2014 fourth quarter net income of $703,000. Total deposits grew 28 percent to $472.2 million compared to $370.1 million on Dec. 31, 2013. Strong loan and deposit growth continues which will fuel expansion plans for Snohomish County, bank officials said.
State mortgage associations merge
Two long-standing and highly respected business organizations have announced their merger. The Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association and the Washington Mortgage Lenders Association merged on Feb. 1 to become the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association. Snohomish County reaches all-time high on employment
Washington state’s Employment Security Department reported that Snohomish County’s employment in December was 275,000, an all-time high. Previously employment peaked in 2008 before the recession at 266,000 jobs. The county unemployment rate also dropped to an eight year low to 4.5 percent. The Seattle-Bellevue-Everett metro division reported an unemployment rate of 4.2 percent in December. The statewide rate was 6.2 percent.
