LAKE STEVENS — An expansive search outside Lake Stevens has wrapped up after human remains were found earlier this month, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday.
An investigation continues by the sheriff’s office and the county Medical Examiner’s Office. No information about the deceased, including age or gender, has been confirmed by authorities.
Detectives were joined in the operation by hundreds of search-and-rescue volunteers from throughout Western Washington, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The search covered roughly 32 acres near the 12000 block of Seventh Place SE, south of town.
The remains were found by a neighbor on Jan. 3. Police have not said whether foul play is suspected in the death.
