EVERETT — Judy Tuohy, CEO of the Schack Art Center, took her seat on the Everett City Council on Nov. 26, one day after election results were certified by the state. She was sworn in earlier that morning.
Tuohy defeated incumbent Richard Anderson for the one-year unexpired term for council position 7. Under state law, she took her seat immediately, rather than at the start of the year, which would have been the case for a full term.
Tuohy will have to stand for reelection in 2015 for a full term.
At the same meeting, the council voted to name council vice president Scott Bader the new council president, whose job entails presiding over council meetings. Bader replaces Jeff Moore in the largely ceremonial role.
