Snohomish County firms nominated for CleanTech award

CleanTech Alliance nominated several Snohomish County entities for the CleanTech Achievement Award for 2014. They include Halosource, Lumenal Lighting, Microgreen Polymers, Outback Power, Puget Sound Energy, Snohomish County PUD, UniEnergy Technologies, Watertectonics and Washington State University. UniEnergy was one of three finalists. The winner was Element8, a Northwest angel investment group focused on clean technology.

Transit union holding Stuff a Bus charity drive

The annual Stuff a Bus charity drive, sponsored by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 883, is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 29 through Dec. 14. Volunteers will be on hand at Fred Meyer, 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway, to accept nonperishable food, household items, and new, non-violent-themed toys destined for local families in need.

Everett dental office to give free care for people in need

Just Smile Dental at 11802 Evergreen Way, Suite 104, in Everett, is hosting a Just Smile Dental Holiday Cheer Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 13. One free simple cleaning, one filling, or one routine extraction will be provided per adult or child in need on a first-come-first-served basis.

Celebration planned for Stanwood farm’s distribution center

A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting for Klesick Family Farm’s new distribution center is at 11 a.m. Dec. 2. The new distribution center for the organic food delivery service is located by Carlson Trucking, just down the street from NW Vet Clinic in Stanwood.

Retirement home celebrates name change

Brookdale Mill Creek, formerly Emeritus at Mill Creek, is having a ribbon cutting ceremony and an open house to celebrate the name change. The event will take place on Dec. 18 with the ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:45 p.m. followed by the open house from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be live music, tours and refreshments.
