EvCC to launch research boat

Everett Community College’s Ocean Research College Academy (ORCA) will launch its new custom-built research boat with a celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Port of Everett in front of ORCA’s classrooms at 1205 Craftsman Way in Everett. Visitors can take tours of the boat after the ceremonies.

New communications manager for Association of Washington Business

The Association of Washington Business has hired longtime business advocate, grassroots coordinator and legislative communications expert Bobbi Cussins to serve as communications manager. She replaces Jason Hagey, who became director of communications in September. Cussins has nearly 16 years experience, starting her career in Olympia at the Washington state chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business.

Marysville’s Columbia College honored for serving military

Columbia College has ranked number four in the Military Times Best for Vets Colleges 2015 for the online and nontraditional schools category. The college, that has a campus in Marysville, offers traditional, web-enhanced and hybrid classes in the evenings or weekends as well as online classes. Veterans, active duty service members and civilians are all welcomed there.

Food drive at The Cellular Connection in Lynnwood

The Cellular Connection, a Verizon Premium Wireless retailer, has kicked off its Stop the Hunger initiative. Through Dec. 12, participating stores across the U.S. are encouraging local families to bring in canned and boxed food, which will be delivered to the community’s food bank. The participating local store is at 19620 Highway 99, Suite 110, Lynnwood.

Volunteers needed by Snohomish County Tourism Bureau

Snohomish County Tourism Bureau is seeking volunteers and accepting applications for travel counselors at the three visitor centers located in Mukilteo, Snohomish and Lynnwood. Travel counselors work with visitors from all over the world. Those interested in these volunteer opportunities should call Stacey Pfeiffer at 425-348-5802 x10 or e-mail stacey@snohomish.org
