New hire at Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce

Kim Voetberg has joined the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce as the new marketing manager. Voetberg has four years of experience with the Newport, Oregon, Chamber of Commerce as the public relations and marketing coordinator. She said she is looking forward to meeting and working with chamber members and supporting the Mukilteo business community.

Everett’s Trinity Lutheran sees largest incoming class ever

Trinity Lutheran College has opened its 71st academic year with the largest incoming class since its move to Everett. The 102 new students represent nearly 13 percent enrollment growth over the last academic year. The college has been on a multi-year growth trend with an overall 30 percent increase over the last three years.

Hundreds attend celebration at Swedish Edmonds

About 300 people celebrated the hospital’s 50th anniversary and ground-breaking milestones at Swedish Edmonds last week. The hospital is opening a two-story, 77,000-square-foot addition to include a new emergency department, urgent care center, observation unit, outpatient diagnostic imaging center and new lobby and more. State Attorney General, Better Business Bureau warn about book scam

The Washington State Office of Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau warn consumers about a school book scam. School employees have reported receiving official-looking invoices from a fake company called Scholastic School Supply for books they did not order. The name is similar to the legitimate publisher Scholastic. Do not pay these suspicious invoices, but instead contact the Federal Trade Commission.

Federal money to help small businesses export goods

The U.S. Small Business Administration has awarded the Washington State Department of Commerce a third year of federal funding to help small businesses grow through exporting. The $494,200 grant, part of the State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) program, is the second largest state award from a total of $8 million awarded nationwide.

PUD users generate record amount of solar energy

Customers of Snohomish County Public Utility District have hit another milestone: their combined solar energy capacity stands at 3 megawatts, up 50 percent from just one year ago. About 500 PUD customers now generate part of their electricity with photovoltaic solar units. The bulk are customers participating in the PUD’s Solar Express program.

Car dealer, Stevens Pass partner to offer season pass to Washington kids

Carter Subaru has again partnered with Stevens Pass Mountain Resort to offer every fifth grader in Washington state a free season pass that entitles them to ski or snowboard at Stevens Pass during the 2014-2015 winter season.
