Back in October I got to spend some time in the studio with Everett band The Moondoggies while they worked on their new record "Adios I'm A Ghost" which is one of the coolest titles I've ever heard.

This week we got a sneak peek at the new record when The Moondoggies released their song "Red Eye." It's so good I have had it on repeat for the last few days.

Hoping to get some more of "Adios I'm A Ghost" when The...

Marysville native and Snohomish resident Bradford Loomis will release his latest record "Into The Great Unknown" tomorrow. I can’t stop listening to it. Every time I put on this new Loomis record I feel like I’m taking a walk through the Bible belt during the days of slavery and the beautiful sound is uplifting in a heartbreaking kind of way (if that makes any sense).

Bradford is booked solid this weekend for the release of...

This Wednesday night, MGMT plays the Showbox SODO and tickets are all sold out. If you have never seen MGMT live and love their radio hits like "Kids," "Time To Pretend" or "Electric Feel," you might be thinking about shelling out a nice chunk of change to scalp some tickets. DON’T DO IT!!!

I have had the misfortune of seeing MGMT perform live twice. Prior to seeing them at Sasquatch and Capitol Hill Block...

The Bumbershoot lineup was announced last night in grand fashion. I have never seen a room full of better dressed people in Seattle than at last night’s prom night Bumbershoot announcement party. Allen Stone and his band took the stage dressed for the occasion. Allen seemed to be channeling his inner Willy Wonka and he made it look good!

The band played two sets last night, taking a break in the middle for a video (see below) to be shown...

Tonight is prom night at The Croc with Allen Stone. As if a themed Allen Stone concert wasn't cool enough, tonight is also the lineup announcement for Bumbershoot 2013! Allen will take a break half way through his set so a video can be shown that will tell us who is playing the big festival in Seattle this year.

I will be there to live tweet the whole thing and just in case you were wondering I will be wearing a white Calvin Klein jacket and...

Last night Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were on TV, again. This time the Seattle hiphop duo dropped by "The Colbert Report" to perform their song "Same Love" with Mary Lambert. They also did an interview with Stephen Colbert before their performance and things got pretty funny in a hurry.

You can see the interview and performance below. I do want to say that I have seen/heard Mary Lambert sing this song on TV, the radio and in concert more times than...

The month of May is here, which means it's almost time to head east to the Gorge for the Sasquatch! Music Festival. The lineup is amazing and the day by day schedule is now up on the Sasquatch website. There aren't as many conflicts for me as in prior years, but you will want to start planning out your days early so you know when you need to be where once you get out there.

I will get...

Daft Punk is back. There has been plenty of buzz for a while surrounding the new Daft Punk album. Rumors began to swirl that there was going to be some big announcement or secret performance at SXSW which sadly turned into nothing. Shortly after that, Random Access Memories was announced and a short video of the single 'Get Lucky' ft Pharrell Willams was released at Coachella.

Following that announcement there have been many reports about the...

I keep hearing these sad stories about bands being robbed of all their instruments and gear. As if musicians don't have it hard enough trying to make a living in this crazy industry, every now and then some soulless lower being decides to come along and take what isn't theirs so they can make a few bucks at the pawn shop. Meanwhile, they are hitting the reset button on the artist they just abused.

It's a really terrible situation and a lot of...

There are two shows happening in Everett this Saturday you won't want to miss. The great news is they are not even close to happening at the same time or overlapping so you can pack your Saturday with music and catch both shows if you like!

Liz Crowley, Paul Fauquet, and Travis Schulze – Silver Cup Coffee 4pm, $5

This is a benefit show being put on by students at Trinity Lutheran College...

Seattle's Macklemore and Ryan Lewis just released a new music video for their song "Can't Hold Us" off of their wildly popular debut album The Heist.

This video came together really well, like all Macklemore and Ryan Lewis videos, and no doubt will help the hiphop duo gain even more popularity than they already have. That seems almost impossible considering they seem to be everywhere you look these days.

Check...

This Wednesday night, Artist Home Booking is set to present a new concert series. If you are not familiar with Artist Home, they are the wonderful people responsible for booking Doe Bay Fest, Slack Fest and the new Timber! Outdoor Music Festival.

This new project is the "Tribute Show" series, which will feature two songwriters covering each other's songs and discussing what the song means to them.

The artists...

This Friday night, the Everett Music Initiative (with whom I work) is bringing Seattle band The Grizzled Mighty to rock Everett's newest recording studio and private event space The Rec Room on Hewitt. Though this will be a full set from The Grizzled Mighty, they will also be shooting footage of the concert for the band's upcoming video release.

Opening the show is Born of Ghosts who have built a great following from Everett to Seattle lately.

Paul McCartney is bringing his "Out There" world tour to Safeco Field on July 19. This will be the first ever major concert event to take place at Safeco Field and will be McCartney's first trip to Seattle since 2005.

McCartney's performance on this tour is reportedly going to last close to three hours and include music from his solo catalog, Wings, and of course The Beatles.

Seattle band Campfire OK recently released a new music video for their song "My Dear Friends." I saw the video when it first came out last month but I have really been jamming out to this song in the last week and wanted to share.

You can see Campfire OK singer Mychal Cohen next Tuesday when he performs as part of The Round at the Freemont Abbey. He will joined by Marysville's Bradford Loomis. Tickets...

Last night, Pickwick teamed up with Portland's Radiation City for the Capitol Hill Block Party launch show. The show was meant to be only for people who purchased tickets early, but once Radiation City started playing Neumos opened its doors to anybody who wanted to come in for free. Needless to say, the place was packed out in a hurry.

This was Pickwick's first time playing at Neumos and their first Seattle show this year. That is interesting,...

For a while now I have been following the music career of Kiersten Holine. When I first became aware of Kiersten she was already a bit of a YouTune sensation and had even been mentioned in Rolling Stone. Simply by posting videos of her covering some of her favorite songs, Kiersten’s YouTube channel has well over 7.5 million views.

Performing songs by artists from Bob Dylan to Modest Mouse to Roy...

The 2013 Capitol Hill Block Party lineup has been released. It will be held July 26 to 28. There will be more bands added and announced later of course, but today's news is pretty great.

The Flaming Lips and Girl Talk are headlining this year. Seattle's own Pickwick is also at the top of the lineup, fresh off the release of their debut album "Can't Talk Medicine."

There are also some bands on the lineup that...

Bumbershoot is jumping on board this whole lineup announcement party train with the other big festivals and they are doing it in a pretty amazing way. On May 2nd and 3rd, Allen Stone and company will be taking over the Crocodile in Seattle to perform and announce the official Bumbershoot 2013 lineup.

This isn’t going to just be any old lineup announcement. This is a prom party lineup announcement. No matter how fresh, dope, or absurd your...

The Treefort Music Fest out in Boise is becoming a pretty big deal. Last week, bands flocked to Idaho from all over, many coming straight from SXSW to be part of Treefort. The Seattle area was well represented at Treefort by bands like Kris Orlowski, Pickwick, Grizzled Mighty, Deep Sea diver, Ben Fisher and many more.

Local Photographer Peter Dervin was able to make the pilgrimage out to Boise to capture the action.

Everett band I Will Keep Your Ghost will be performing at The Anchor on Hewitt this Friday night. Anytime band members Bryan Bradly and Aaron Coughlin play The Anchor, the show quickly turns into an all-out dance party.

This show is a big one for IWKYG, as it is an attempt to raise money to record their new EP. And it will be their last show for a while, so they can focus on recording.

They will also be...

Rumors began swirling today that Prince (yes PRINCE!) will be doing a West Coast club tour that will include four Seattle shows in two days next month. I am getting my info from the music blog Consequence Of Sound and as far as I can tell nothing is confirmed yet.

Tonight, Marysville's Brad Loomis will perform at The Crepe Escape and Coffee House in Snohomish. I have never been to The Crepe Escape, or even heard of it for that matter, but I am so excited to hear some of Brad's new tunes that I don't really care where he's playing.

Last week, Brad Loomis performed live on Everett radio station 90.7 KSER. And last month, he joined the ranks of successful Seattle artists like The Head and The Heart, Noah...

The brand new Timber! Outdoor Music Fest in Carnation has just announced the first round of bands for their very first year and things are looking very promising.

Every band announced so far is fantastic. Several of my favorite Seattle area bands have already been announced, including Everett band River Giant. Helio Sequence (one of my favorite bands ever) is at the top of the bill. I still maintain that Helio Sequence drummer, Benjamin Weikel, is...

It's that time of year. Time for bands from all over the world to make the pilgrimage to Austin, TX to show their stuff at South by South West. Most bands will arrange a tour that takes them to SXSW and then back home and will play several shows over a week in Austin with some days holding multiple showcases.

There is a crop of serious talent from the Seattle area making the journey and I wanted to take the time to highlight some of the artists...

Seattle rock duo My Goodness went through a change recently when Andy Lum of Craft Spells joined as the new drummer. Since then, My Goodness has been full steam ahead, shooting new videos and getting in the studio to work on a new record.

High hopes that the new record will be out sooner than later, and I hear it will be loaded with 12 tracks.

I am going to try and catch up with Joel and Andy when they head back...
