Body found in Snohomish River, investigation ongoing

SNOHOMISH — A woman’s body was recovered Sunday evening from the Snohomish River, south of town.

The body was badly decomposed, said Lt. Monte Beaton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was found in a log jam near the 14100 block of Short School Road, between Snohomish and Monroe. Passersby who spotted it called 911 just after 5 p.m.

It took authorities several hours to reach the log jam, which was in a fast moving stretch of the river, Beaton said.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the identity and cause of death, Beaton said. No additional details were available as of 9 p.m.
