Lake Stevens in process of picking police chief finalists

LAKE STEVENS — The city hopes to name a new police chief in the coming weeks.

Officials are aiming to narrow down applicants to a group of finalists before the end of the month, interim city administrator Mary Swenson said. A public reception will be held with the finalists before a decision is made, she said.

The chief position pays up to $145,128. The recruitment firm is being paid $19,500.

Ralph Krusey, who retired from the Marysville Police Department, is serving as interim police chief. The chief oversees about 30 Lake Stevens police officers.

Former Police Chief Dan Lorentzen retired earlier this year.
