Lake Stevens woman shot after argument over lawn mowing

LAKE STEVENS — An argument about lawn mowing escalated into gunfire Saturday, and ended with a 49-year-old woman being taken to a hospital.

The woman arrived at her home in the 400 block of E Lake Stevens Road at about 2:15 p.m.

Another resident at the address, a 71-year-old man, was mowing the lawn when she arrived.

The woman objected to a portion of the lawn being cut, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Lt. Todd Swenson.

The discussion became heated and the man pulled out a gun and shot the woman once in the abdomen, Swenson said.

The woman was taken by aid car to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

“She was conscious and alert when they were packing her up into the aid car,” Swenson said.

The man remained on the scene and was detained for questioning.

The sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation.
