Vehicle found burning in Mukilteo after alleged Everett assault

EVERETT — A man was seriously injured Sunday after confronting a stranger about dumping trash in a parking lot on Evergreen Way in Everett.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who may be associated with the assault, Everett police Sgt. Maryjane Hacker said Monday.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Officers found a man, believed to be in his 60s, in the parking lot with a serious leg injury.

The investigation revealed that the man keeps an eye on the property, even though he doesn’t own it. He reportedly confronted another man in a Chevy Avalanche, who was dumping trash out of a pickup truck. The suspect reportedly chased after the victim with a metal pipe during the confrontation, Hacker said.

He returned to his pickup truck and allegedly ran over the victim.

The victim was dragged about 30 feet before the suspect fled the parking lot.

The injured man was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. An update of his condition wasn’t immediately known.

Mukilteo police found a burning Chevy Avalanche late Sunday night. Sheriff’s deputies later arrested a man in a vehicle stolen out of Mukilteo.
