Man wounded in shooting at south Everett Taco Bell

EVERETT — Police are investigating a shooting at a south Everett Taco Bell that was the site of gunfire last year.

Police were called to the fast food restaurant in the 7400 block of Evergreen Way around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

They found a man, believed to be in his 20s, lying in the parking lot, bleeding from a leg wound. Officers applied a tourniquet to stem the blood, Everett police Sgt. Maryjane Hacker said. The man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

The gunman, who was described as black, reportedly fled in a white passenger car. No other description was available Monday.

Witnesses told police that the victim was sitting in his vehicle and the suspect was parked a few stalls away. The two men had an argument that turned into a physical fight, Hacker said. The suspect allegedly pulled out a gun during the melee and shot the victim.

About a year ago three people were hit by gunfire in that same parking lot.

Shaquille Jones allegedly called another man a derogatory name because he had a pink bicycle. The bicycle owner, a Taco Bell worker, challenged Jones to a fight.

Witnesses said Jones pulled a handgun and started firing. The bicycle owner and another Taco Bell employee were hit.

A man standing behind the employees also was shot. Police believe he was with Jones. The suspect’s friend told him: “You shot me, homie.”
