1 arrested in south Everett shooting

EVERETT — One person was injured and another arrested in an early morning shooting in south Everett on Sunday.

Everett police officers responded just after 3 a.m. to a call in the 9100 block of Fifth Place W in the Westmont neighborhood. They found a man in his early 20s in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

A woman in her early 20s was still on the scene and was arrested without incident. She cooperated with police and was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of assault.

The man and woman knew each other but were not in a significant dating relationship, detectives determined.

The two had been at a local bar and arrived at the victim’s home. While still sitting in the car, they got into an argument over texts the man had received from other women.

The driver had a 9 mm Glock handgun in the car. The suspect took the gun and shot the victim once.

Detectives recovered several shell casings from the scene. The subject was cooperative with police and was booked into jail for investigation of assault with a gun. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

The victim was given emergency treatment on the scene before he was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, Colby Campus, where he underwent surgery. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

This incident remains under investigation.
