Voters in the Everett and Marysville school districts are reminded to drop off or mail their ballots for today’s special election.
Marysville is seeking approval of a $230 million bond to fund replacement and renovation at four schools and repairs, maintenance and upgrades throughout the district. The bond requires a 60 percent supermajority to pass.
Everett is seeking approval for an $89.6 million capital levy and a $149.7 million bond. The levy will fund technology and security upgrades throughout the district. The bond would fund a new elementary school and partial replacement and remodeling of two other schools as well as security and other upgrades throughout the district. The bond requires 60 percent approval; the levy a simple majority.
The Herald Editorial Board has endorsed the Marysville bond and the Everett bond and levy requests as necessary in meeting the education needs of students in both communities.
