EvCC administrator takes job at Shoreline Community College

Alison Stevens has been appointed Shoreline Community College’s new executive vice president of Academic and Student Affairs. Most recently, she served as the vice president of Instruction and Student Affairs with Everett Community College. She also served seven years as an instructional dean for Seattle Central and North Seattle Colleges. Stevens will begin with Shoreline on July 1.

Sign language courses offered at Cascadia in Bothell

For the first time, Cascadia College in Bothell will offer summer courses in American Sign Language. The class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for four weeks, from July 5 to July 28, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Jodene Anicello is a deaf instructor offering added insight. Financial literary to be focus of KSER show

The next Getting Your Dough to Rise, KSER 90.7 FM and KXIR 89.9 FM’s monthly personal finance show, is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In honor of Financial Literacy Month, Clinton Taylor of JumpStart and Financial Beginnings, and Ray Eads, president of Wealth Management Northwest, will join with host Chuck Noel to address the topic. Call-ins are encouraged.

Port awards $1.1 million contract to move Weyerhaeuser Building

On April 19, the Port Commission awarded a nearly $1.1 million contract to Everett-based Nickel Brothers to relocate the iconic 1923 Weyerhaeuser Building from its current location in the Port of Everett Marina to the Port’s new Boxcar Park. The Port said the venerable structure could be used as an outdoor performance venue and marine clubhouse in the 2020 timeframe.
