Everett testing water after lead turns up in Tacoma supply

EVERETT — Everett Public Works is doing some additional water testing after lead was discovered in water lines in Tacoma this month.

Over the past several decades Everett eliminated lead from lines and connections it its water system, and over the past 15 years the city has not found high lead levels in any of its water.

The city is checking homes with older galvanized iron service lines as a precaution after the Tacoma discovery, and will report its findings.

Everett provides water to about 80 percent of Snohomish County residents and businesses, for a total of about 570,000 consumers.

More information on Everett’s water system is online at everettwa.gov/water.
