Monroe house fire contained to one bedroom; no injuries

MONROE — Neighbors reported a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Monroe.

The neighbors heard the smoke alarm beeping and saw black smoke, according to the fire district. The fire was reported at 4 p.m. along Short Columbia Street. It was contained to a bedroom. No injuries were reported. The fire was reportedly caused by an electric blanket.
