Minivan sought in drive-by shooting near U.S. 2

LAKE STEVENS — The Washington State Patrol is asking for help finding a minivan that was used in a drive-by shooting just east of the U.S. 2 trestle Monday night.

The shooting is believed to be related to road rage.

“It’s still under investigation as to who was driving erratically or aggressively,” trooper Mark Francis said Wednesday. “We only have the victim’s point of view.”

The gunfire was reported at 9:20 p.m. along eastbound Highway 204, just off the trestle. Two drivers had a disagreement that started on I-5 near 41st Street in Everett, Francis said.

The minivan followed the victim’s vehicle onto the trestle, pulled up alongside it and shots were fired from the van’s passenger window.

“Numerous spent shell casings were located at the scene,” according to a State Patrol memo.

The minivan was described as tan or brown, from the late 1990s or early 2000s. The victim was in an older white Datsun pickup. The pickup had large decals on the door reading “4×4.”

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or the events leading up to it is asked to call detective Kevin Nelson at 360-654-1143.

Drive-by shooting is a felony under state law.
