Suspect identified in hit-and-run that injured pedestrian

EVERETT — Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives say they have identified the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck a 22-year-old man on Jan. 23 at the intersection of 128th Street and Eighth Avenue W.

A tip helped detectives identify the type of vehicle the suspect was driving.

Detectives also pulled video from businesses in the area where the collision occurred, which provided them with a partial license plate number. That led them to the suspect, sheriff’s office spokesman Shari Ireton.

The suspect, 32, is cooperating with the investigation, Ireton said.

“Once the investigation is complete, charges will be referred to the prosecuting attorney,” she said.

The victim, Scotty Becktell, is at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
