Skagit County wrong-way crash injures Camano Island woman

BURLINGTON — A four-vehicle accident early Saturday in Skagit County has sent two people to the hospital with injuries, including a 19-year-old Camano Island woman.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at 12:40 a.m. on Highway 20 east of Higgins Airport Way, about three miles west of Burlington.

A Nissan Altima driven by a 28-year-old Wisconsin woman was headed west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 20 when she hit a 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by the Camano Island woman.

The crash caused the Caliber to collide with a Freightliner box trailer also heading eastbound. A Honda Accord then drove through the scene and hit some of the debris.

The Camano Island and Wisconsin women were both transported to Skagit Valley Hospital with undisclosed injures. The other two drivers were not injured.

The Wisconsin driver is being investigated for possible driving under the influence charges as well as vehicular assault.
