Front Porch: Reduced CT bus service Monday

Community Transit will operate local buses within Snohomish County on regular schedule on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 18, but commuter service to and from downtown Seattle and the University District will be reduced.

Downtown Seattle service will be limited to Routes 402, 413 and 421. University District service will be limited to Route 855.

Customer Information Services and the RideStore will be closed on Jan. 18.

Learn about our weather: There’s no question that weather in the Puget Sound region can be unpredictable. The area is on the western edge of a continent with a massive ocean to the west and is surrounded by two mountain ranges. A class, “Weather and Climate: A Puget Sound Perspective” is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library. Monroe nonprofit send off: Take the Next Step is having a farewell party for a longtime volunteer at 1 p.m. Friday at its drop-in center, 202 S. Sams St. Mary Nalty has, for years, passed out lunches and helped people who faced with homelessness and poverty. Nalty is moving to Denver to be near family.
