EdCC adds two new trustees

Edmonds Community College’s Board of Trustees has gained two new members, Tia Benson Tolle, and a new student trustee, Omar Abdulla. Benson Tolle will serve a term which will run through September 2020. She replaces board member Dick Van Hollebeke, who finished his term in September. Abdulla will serve a term which will run through June 2016. He replaces Girish Chummun.

Edmonds expands permit center to five days a week

To better meet increasing public demand for its services, the Permit Center at Edmonds City Hall will be open five days-a-week, instead of being closed on Wednesdays, effective mid-February. Last month, the City Council approved a 2016 budget that restores some staffing that had been cut during the recession. Since then, the city has focused on recruiting for the positions.

More than $27 million is available for qualified Puget Sound Energy customers in need. Several programs, administered by local community-services agencies in partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce, can help customers receive financial help with their bills, manage their household utility budgets and lower their home energy usage. Economic Alliance to host networking event at Silvertips

Free tax webinar planned for new, small business owners

The Washington State Department of Revenue will host a free live tax webinar for new and small business owners from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 20. Participants will learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements.
