SEATTLE — An audit has revealed that Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s contracted cab service owes the Port of Seattle hundreds of thousands of dollars after the company allegedly underreported fares trips to and from the airport.

Seattlepi.com reports the audit released Wednesday says officials with both the port and Puget Sound Dispatch failed to monitor the contract that gave the cab company access to airport passengers.

Puget Sound Dispatch was required to pay either 13 percent of gross annual revenue or $3.6 million annually under its contract, which took effect in 2010.

According to the audit, poor record keeping and lack of oversight led to underpayment by hundreds of thousands of dollars, or more.

Puget Sound Dispatch General Manager Amin Shifow says he’ll do what’s necessary to continue working with the port.
