Monroe chiropractor honored by statewide association

Chiropractor Daniel Peltonen was honored Oct. 10 with a Special Service Award by the Washington State Chiropractic Association. Peltonen operates Sky Valley Chiropractic Clinic at 110 N. Blakely St. in Monroe. He is a member of the Lions Club and has served as president of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of the City of Monroe Parks &Recreation Department.

Bothell’s Foggy Noggin releases Cranberry Frost ale

Foggy Noggin Brewing re-released of one of its most popular seasonal beers, Cranberry Frost Strong Golden Ale, at the tasting room in Bothell. Cranberry Frost won best Brown Fruit Beer in the 2014 Northwest Brewing News Reader’s Choice and was people’s choice winner at the 2014 Winter Beer Fest. This seasonal brew will run about six to eight weeks.

County Sports Commission wins award

The Snohomish County Sports Commission and the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup have been named one of 10 Mid- to Large-Market Champions in the 2015 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism by Sports Destination Management, a leading publication for sports event planners and tournament directors. The honor was announced in the publication’s November/December issue.

Edmonds, Volunteers of America sponsoring Giving Trees

The City of Edmonds and Volunteers of America are sponsoring Giving Trees at Frances Anderson Center and Edmonds City Hall. Citizens, businesses and organizations are invited to select a tag with the name of a person in need and their personalized gift suggestion. Simply purchase the gift and return it wrapped to either location by Dec. 11.

Credit Union donates $10,200 to state charities

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union members contributed $76,300 to support their local community food banks during the annual Cash for Cans food drive. This exceeded last year’s amount by 15 percent. Washington branches collected $10,200, which will benefit Northwest Harvest in Seattle, Help House Food Bank in Oak Harbor, Hopelink in Redmond, and the Salvation Army of Bremerton.

NW Plus CU is accepting donations of food and money for seven local food banks at each of its own seven locations in Snohomish and Skagit Counties. Cash and food donations will be accepted through Dec. 18.
