UW Bothell hires new vice chancellor of advancement, external relations

Philip Akers has been named the new vice chancellor for advancement and external relations at the University of Washington Bothell. Akers will join UW Bothell on Feb. 1. He has more than 25 years of experience in higher education advancement. Akers will succeed Richard Penny, who will retire in January after nearly eight years of service with the university.

Bothell’s Foggy Noggin to open Thanksgiving afternoon

Bothell’s Foggy Noggin Brewing plans to continue its annual tradition of opening up its tasting room at 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day for an hour or so. The brewery at 22329 53rd Ave SE, Bothell, will be pouring pints and filling growlers for those in need of more holiday refreshment.

County sees uptick in hotel occupancy

Snohomish County hotels were up in occupancy over 2014, and up in both average daily rate and revenue per available room, according to the Smith Travel Research report for October 2015. The county ended up second in occupancy behind Clark County but ahead of King County. Overall demand was up 2.5 percent.

Port of Everett adopts $78 million budget

The Port of Everett Commission has adopted a $78 million 2015 operating and capital budget designed to implement its capital initiative portfolio, specifically preparing for larger ships at the seaport and creating a new waterfront community with the Waterfront Place Central Development. It includes a one-year operating and capital budget as well as a five-year capital budget forecast with a three-year funding plan.
