WSU wins CleanTech Alliance award

Washington State University was awarded the 2015 CleanTech Alliance Achievement Award during the Alliance’s Annual Meeting on Nov. 17. The CleanTech Achievement Award honors a business or organization for making significant contributions in Washington State’s cleantech industry. Avista Utilities, the Cleantech Open and Washington State University were all chosen as finalists for the 2015 award from more than 60 nominations.

Pharmacist from Sultan awarded by state association

The Washington State Pharmacy Association has awarded Gregory Hovander of Sultan its Bowl of Hygeia award for outstanding contributions in the area of community services throughout his pharmacy career. The award was presented on Nov. 21 at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino. Hovander was nominated by his colleague Guillermo V. Castaneda. The two served farm workers in need at the Farm Worker’s Family Health Center in Toppenish.

‘The Ultimate Cheapskate’ to talk in Snohomish County

Jeff Yeager, who bills himself as The Ultimate Cheapskate, will give free December presentations in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Stanwood. The talks will take place at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at Edmonds Library, 650 Main St.; 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W; and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Stanwood/Camano Resource Center at 9612 271st St. NW, Stanwood.

Everett dentist to offer free care

Dentist William Webley of Just Smile Dental is hosting the second annual Holiday Cheer Day at his dental office located at 11802 Evergreen Way, Suite 104, Everett. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 12, anyone from the community can come in and receive one free filling or one free extraction or a free simple cleaning. Call for details.

Lake Stevens chamber planning annual run

The Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce has announced that its fourth annual C-Trail 5k/10k/Kids Fun Run, along with a new Chase the Leprechaun event, will take place March 12.
