Lake Stevens woman appointed to EvCC’s trustees

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Toraya Miller to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees. Miller, of Lake Stevens, is a vice-president/internal auditor at Coastal Community Bank and the chair of the board for United Way Snohomish County. Miller replaces trustee James Shipman. Her term is from November to September 2020.

Tax savings ideas topic for KSER show

The next Getting Your Dough To Rise, KSER 90.7 FM and KXIR 89.9 FM’s monthly personal finance show, is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. This annual tax savings ideas edition features the return of CPA Bill Reith. Also joining host Chuck Noel in the studio will be Meghan Wagner, campaign director for the Nature Conservancy, Washington. Kevin Watier, Program Manager, Snohomish County PUD, as a guest who will discuss ways of saving on one’s utility bills.

UW Bothell announces its largest class ever

The University of Washington Bothell welcomed its largest first-year class of all time for fall 2015-2016 with a 9 percent increase over the prior year, making it the fastest-growing public university in the state of Washington and among the top 10 fastest-growing in the nation. Transfer students from community colleges have also increased. The overall headcount for 2015-16 is 5,279 students.

Three local nurses honored by March of Dimes

The March of Dimes Washington Chapter honored 19 nurses at its 13th annual Washington Nurse of the Year Awards on Nov. 13. Local winners included Robin Hollenhorst of Edmonds with Providence Regional Medical Center Everett; Judith Canfield of Everett with Providence Regional Medical Center Everett; and Trish Nilsen of Langley with Whidbey Family Birthplace.
