Hop Jack’s to open in Smokey Point

MARYSVILLE — Hop Jack’s plans to bring its take on the neighborhood gathering place to Smokey Point today when it opens at The Marketplace, the new shopping center coming online north of Costco.

The 4,400-square-foot restaurant and bar expects to employ 80 people at 2623 172nd St. NE, Marysville, just west Exit 206 on I-5.

“This site is a great space for a restaurant that is a true ‘neighborhood gathering place.’” said owner Mark Eggen in a statement. “We are looking forward to being the place where neighbors meet neighbors.”

Hop Jack’s has 12 locations in Washington, including one in Lynnwood. The chain first started in Bonney Lake.

Hop Jack’s says it is named after the people who worked to pick and produce dried hops to be used in the beer brewing process.

Hop Jack’s is known for its specialty cocktails served in a glass made of ice. The restaurant is open weekdays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday the restaurant opens at 8 a.m. for breakfast and closes at midnight. Happy Hour is offered in the bar and dining room daily 2-6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close. On Saturday and Sunday, the restaurant serves breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m.

Staff at the Smokey Point location includes Brooke de Haas, general manager; Bill Shepard, kitchen manager; Daman Ward, bar manager; and Michaela McAuliff, training manager.

The Marketplace is a 910,000-square-foot shopping center that includes major anchor Dick’s Sporting Goods, which opened last month. Other tenants include Party City, Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish, which will share the same grill in a single building, plus a Hobby Lobby, T-Mobile, Aveda Hair Salon and a Qdoba Mexican restaurant.
