Three local football players named to Team USA U-17 football roster

Archbishop Murphy’s Jackson Yost and Anfernee Gurley and Jackson’s B. Keanu Freitas have been named to the Team USA roster for the Under-17 National Team and will compete against Canada in the International Bowl at AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) in Arlington, Texas.

Yost, Gurley and Freitas are three of 59 athletes selected to represent Team USA in the game, which takes place February 5.

The International Bowl is a collaboration of the sport’s national governing bodies in each country — USA Football and Football Canada.

“This is an exciting opportunity for these young men to represent their country on the field and learn from top coaches while working alongside the best athletes in their grade levels,” USA Football CEO Scott Hallenbeck said. “To play inside the same stadium as the Dallas Cowboys will make this a memorable experience for our coaches, athletes and their families.”

In order to be eligible for the U-17 team, players must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1997.
